Chris Ringland

Chris is the winemaker at Bodegas El Nido in Jumilla. Born in Auckland, New Zealand, he has always been fascinated by the wine profession, to the extent that from a young age, he was already cultivating his neighbors' vines to make his first wines.

He spent several years working as a local wine cellar hand and later traveled to South Australia, where he studied oenology at the renowned Roseworthy campus. After completing his studies, he returned to New Zealand to further his training.

Following a period working in California and Europe, he returned to South Australia, where in the late 1980s, he began working with Robert O'Callaghan at Rockford Wines in the Barossa Valley. It was there that Chris developed his unique style and produced his globally famous Shiraz, initially under the label Three Rivers Shiraz.

After 15 years at Rockford, he returned to Europe and partnered with the Gil Family to develop the Bodegas El Nido project.
